    The Royal Enfield has a long and interesting history that makes it a bike of a different class altogether. It was a company incorporated in 1891 by supplying parts to Royal Small Arms Company Enfield, UK. The company started manufacturing bicycles and the first mechanical tricycle and Quadra cycle powered by a De-Dim 1.5 HP engine was manufactured in 1899. Enfield Limited was established in India in 1955 as a public limited company and started assembling work with CKD Kits imported from UK. Enfield India then became the company’s first four-stroke motorcycle manufacturer. In 1994, The Eicher Group Acquired Enfield India Ltd. and renamed it Royal Enfield Motors Limited.

    1. Day 1 Arrive Kathmandu (1,400 m) / Welcome dinner

      Upon arrival met by the representative and board the waiting vehicle and drive to the hotel. Guest

      will be welcomed with the welcome drink and the rooms will be assigned.

      Kathmandu: The city stands at an elevation of approximately 1,370 meters (4,500 ft.) in the bowlshapedKathmandu Valley of central Nepal. It is surrounded by four major mountains: Shivapuri, Phulchoki, Nagarjun, and Chandragiri. Kathmandu Valley is part of three districts (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur), has the highest population density in the country, and is home to about a twelfth of Nepal’s population. Historically, the Kathmandu Valley and adjoining areas were known as Nepal Mandala.

      Rest of the day is free to relax and explore around the hotel.

      Restaurant (Bhojan Griha.) Bhojan Griha is located in Dilli Bazar is an authentic Nepali Restaurant. It is an old Nepali Building which is more than 100 years old; it is historical & artistic building of former royal priest.

      Ti is an old Nepali building restored and converted into a multi-storied restaurant tastefully decorated in local decor. Shoes have to be taken off – Nepali custom) which serves Nepali as well as foreign drinks and cocktails. Snack menu of momo-cha (meat dumplings), fried or boiled wild boar meat, fried potato Nepali style with masala, dried and marinated venison meat, grilled

      chicken/mutton/duck, etc., are featured in the menu. Also, there is a one hour Nepali folk dance program. The main meal (dinner or lunch) is served on the 01st & 2nd floor with a choice of either table sitting or Nepali style floor sitting. This is the first Nepali restaurant of its kind in Nepal.

      After the dinner, board the waiting vehicle and drive to Hotel.

    2. Day 2 Half day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu City & Swayambhunath Stupa

      After breakfast you will be met by the city guide at the hotel lobby and board the waiting vehicle and proceed for the sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

      Firstly we will be visiting the Swayambhunath Stupa. Swayambhunath is approximately 07 kilometers from Kathmandu.

      Swayambhunath Stupa – one of the protected monument sites of the Kathmandu Valley. It is situated onthe top of the hill lying 4 kilometers west of Kathmandu.

      More than 2,500 years old, this ancient landmark is connected to the visit of Manjushree who createdKathmandu – a lake than – by draining its waters. The sage saw a celestial lotus in bloom on the top of this hill and sacrificed it. It is an important pilgrimage centre as well as the centre of art, architecture, religion and culture of Mahayana Buddhism.

      The stupa of Swayambhunath is a hemispherical mound of compacted earth, and is built to specific rules, and is replete with symbols. The mound represents the four elements of earth, fire, wind and water. The 13 gilded rings of the spire symbolize the 13 steps of the ladder leading to Nirvana, the final salvation. The shrine is bedecked in colourful prayer flags. The pilgrim’s  progress to Swayambhunath holy premises is actually through a sylvan path of 365 steps. The entrance is graced by a huge Vajra (Symbol of thunder bolt).

      Statues of Buddha adorn the four corners of the stupa. Statues of goddess Ganga and Jamuna guard the eternal flame behind it. There is a Tibetan gompa (monastery) and innumerable Chaityas (small stupas). The balcony of Swayambhunath is ideal for viewing the entire valley spread out below.

      After the sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath continue the drive to Kathmandu Durbar

      Square for the sightseeing.

      Kathmandu city with its many beautiful temples and shopping courtyards; As one crosses from the modern area of New

      Road into the Durbar Square, the onetime Freak Street, one is suddenly in the midst of Kathmandu’s famed medieval

      architecture. The major tourist attraction on this tour includes a visit to the Hanuman Dhoka (Hanuman gate) which takes its name from the Monkey God, Hanuman from the epic, Ramayana. The palace of the Malla Kings located in the Hanuman Dhoka is of the 14th Century and it is still retained as a ceremonial palace of the present Shah dynasty. Important traditional Royal ceremonies including the coronation of the King of Nepal are still conducted at Hanuman Dhoka Palace. Near the Hanuman Dhoka is the house of the Living Goddess Kumari – Kumari Bahal. Two painted stone Lions stand guard at the entrance. Visitors may enter the courtyard to see the Living Goddess but are forbidden to take photographs.

      After the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu city we continue our walk through Asan Bazaar, the heart and soul of Kathmandu.

      Asan is a ceremonial, market and residential square in central Kathmandu, the Capital of Nepal. It is one of the most well-known historical locations in the city and is famed for its bazaar, festival calendar and strategic location. Asan has been described as one of the fine Newari examples of traditional Asian Bazaar. The Tuladhar, Shrestha, Baijracharya and Shakya castes make up most of the population of Asan. Six streets converge on Asan giving the square a perpetual bustle. The bazaar at Asan attracts shoppers from all over Kathmandu because of the tremendous variety of merchandise sold here, ranging from foodstuffs, spices and textiles to electronics and bullions. Asan is also one of the popular tourist spots in the city because of its architectural sights and charming ambiance.

      PM: Lunch at convenient place at Thamel

      After lunch walk back to the hotel and rest or the afternoon is free to relax and walk around the city.

      17:00 Hrs. Meet the representative at the hotel lobby, and get introduced to the road captain and the mechanic for the ride.

      Rest of the evening is free.

    3. Day 3 Introduction to the Bikes / Day ride to Dhulikhel (1550m) (approx. 31km)

      A.M – Met by the Road captain and introduction to the Royal Enfield Motorcycles. There will be a short briefing about the safety and the proper speed to ride on the roads followed by a question and answer session. After the briefing, everyone will be handed the keys to the motorcycles and taken for a ride to Dhulikhel to familiarize with the motorcycles.

      Later retrace the same route back to the city. Rest of the day is free.

    4. Day 4 Participate in the 10th Enfield Rendezvous & Poker Run Ride Kathmandu to Pokhara (210Kms)

      Registration: 07:00 – 07:30 Hrs. All Rider participants meet for final registration and collection of T-shirts and goodie bags at Khulamanch, Tudikhel.

      07:30 to 07:45 Hrs. A short briefing about the safety features during the ride and the objective and rules and regulations of the 4th Enfield Rendezvous & Poker run.

      Start the ride: 08:00 Hrs. flagging off of the ride. Each participant will be given the 1st card of the Poker hand.

      On the Trail:The next stop is Naubise, 26 kilometers from Kathmandu to collect the 02nd card. (Stop for a tea break at the local Tea shop) The third card will be collected at Mugling, 110 km from Kathmandu. (Stop for lunch)

      After lunch cross the suspension bridge past Mugling and Dumre and Damauli to Akala highwayRestaurant which lies in Manapang 01, Tanahaun, and 175 km from Kathmandu or 35 km beforePokhara.

      Here we collect our 04th poker card, then set off for Pokhara. Upon arrival at Pokhara, the participants will be allocated rooms at the Hotel Landmark.

      The 05th card will be distributed at the end of the ride.

      Final Rendezvous19:00 Hrs.

      Gather at the dining hall for presentation and prize distribution. (Prizes will be distributed to the winner of the best Poker HandOther prizes like “Best Enfield award”, “Hard Luck award” for the motorcycle with the most breakdowns will also be presented. There will also be a special prize for the most supportive female rider/participant etc.)

      This will be followed by BBQ Dinner and cultural program.

      21:00 Hrs. Live Music and FREE beer (A Gala celebration to usher in the New Year 2075 BS).

    5. Day 5 Ride from Pokhara to Kalopani (1,190 m) (130 Kilometers)

      After an early breakfast, leave Pokhara and ride towards Beni (approx. 70 Kilometers) on the Baglung Highway. This section of the ride provides fantastic mountain vistas, picturesque terraced farmlands and an opportunity to walk on one of Nepal’s famous suspension bridges.

      At Mal Dhunga, leave the main highway by taking the right trail and follow a dusty graveled path all the way to Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi District in Dhaulagiri Zone. It is located on the confluence of Kali Ghandaki and Myagdi rivers at an altitude of 799 meters and is a bustling town lined with stores, restaurants, hotels and various government offices.

      From here, the road is unpaved and dusty with potholes in several places. Unpaved, gravelled rough road poses a real challenge for riders and makes it more difficult with the occasional river crossings.

      Ascend gradually through the Kali Gandiki gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. There is a continuous change in the topography with every twist and turn until our arrival at Tatopani.

      From here set out on the trail by following the Kali Gandaki River and passing the Thakali and Magar Villages to Dana (4750 ft. / 1446 m.) famous for its beautiful cascading waterfall.

      Steeply ascend to Ghasa (6600 ft./ 2012m) and continue the ride on a dusty and one of the difficult section of the road towards Jomsom via the Thakali villages of Tukuche and Kalopani.

      Enroute, there are fantastic views of the Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Tukuche (6920m), and Nilgiri (7061m). As we pass between the Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna mountain range, a dramatic change in vegetation is witnessed from green forests, to dry arid desert. It takes gradual acclimatizing with the surrounding. The Thakali’s are the dominant tribe of the valley, related to the Gurung and Magars of the southern slopes.

      As soon as we pass Ghasa we will come to a place known as Dhaiku where we have to cross the bridge. After riding approximately for 10 kilometers via Lete we will come to our today’s destination Kalapani. Kalapani is scaled to be at 2530 meters. One can enjoy a very beautiful view of Mt. Nilgiri and Mt. Tukuche

      Upon Arrival at Kalopani check in to the lodge and rest of the evening is free to relax and explore around the Kalapani village.

    6. Day 6 Ride Kalopani to Muktinath via Jomsom (3600m/55kms/4hrs)

      After an early breakfast, set out on the trail by following the Kali Gandaki River and passing the Thakali and Magar Villages to Marpha. On the way we will be passing through Kokhethanti village and Tukuche village to get to Marpha. Marpha is known to be the one of the oldest and most famous village.

      Marpha situated at an elevation of 2670 meters. Marpha is famous for its apple orchards and apple products. This large Thakali village exhibits the typical ThakKhola architecture of flat roofs and narrow paved alleys and passageways. It also has a


      After a short break at Marpha continue the ride towards Jomsom through the dusty graveled “off” road passing smaller settlements and apple orchards. There are excellent views of Mt. Nilgiri and the Kali Gandaki River flows on the right hand side of the trail.

      This day’s journey is a tough one but the scenic views of the rugged landscape, beautiful cascading waterfalls, orange and apple

      orchards, scattered roadside villages, ancient Buddhist monasteries all make it ‘One Hell of a Ride”.

      Jomsom(2713 m) is more correctly known as Dzongsam or New Fort. It spreads over both the banks of the Kali Ghandaki. The towering peaks of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri form an attractive backdrop. Being the district headquarters, it is primarily an administrative and commercial center with government officials and merchants rubbing shoulders with the local inhabitants of the region,

      known as the Thakalis. Jomsom is the Administrative center of the Mustang region and the gateway to the Annapurna region. A

      land of mystique, the rugged peaks of the Annapurna, Nilgiri and Dhaulagari gaze down in their awesome splendor at weathered landscapes that contrast with the deep river ravines over noisy riverbeds. Jomsom is a mixture of hard work, social frivolity tempered by culture founded on deep religious traditions. It has the only airport that operates daily scheduled flights to  Pokhara in the early mornings before the winds build up.

      From here continue ride passing through the village, past the High Altitude Mountain Warfare School of the Royal Nepal Army and through several restaurants, bhattis and a hospital. We pass through the old Jomsom village which boasts of several lodges, restaurants school and government offices. At the end of the village the valley opens wide, take the left side of the trail just after crossing the three ruined chortenand continue on the east bank of the Kali Ghandaki River. After about 20 minutes, arrive at Ekklaibhatti a small village with few lodges. There are two trails here. The left will lead to Kagbeni while the right one leads to Muktinath. We take the right trail and continue to ascend slowly to the settlement of Jharkot, which has a fort “Kot”.

      From here, another 15 minutes ride on the desert plateau brings us to Muktinath.

      Late PM: Visit Muktinath Temple

      The Muktinath Temple is a sacred place both for Hindus and Buddhists and is located at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La (5416 m Pass), Mustang district, Nepal.

      The site is close to the village of Ranipauwa, which sometimes mistakenly is called Muktinath as well.

      The Hindus call this sacred place MuktiKshetra, which literally means “Place of Salvation”. This temple is considered to be the 105thamong the available 108 DivyaDesam. The ancient name of this place, before the Buddhist origin was known as ThiruSaligramam. In Muktinath-ChumigGyatsa all the elements are represented and for this and reasons unseen, yogis from both religions do their meditation at Muktinath.

      For Tibetan Buddhists, Muktinath (ChumigGyatsa) is a place of Dakinis (goddess known as Sky Dancers). It is of great importance for Buddhists asChumigGyatsa is one of the 24 Tantric places.

      For Hindus, beside the natural fire representing Brahman and the holy waters, the central meaning of the Muktinath area is veneration of the god Vishnu in the form of ammonites (shilas) called Salagrama – Shilas.

      There are many stories which tell of Vishnu turning into stone and all of them are closely connected to the holy Kali Ghandaki River. According to contemporary geologists, the Salagrama – silas (found at the banks and river bed of the holy river Kali Ghandaki) are fossils of a prehistoric insect. This insect is mentioned in the BhavisyaPurana. Therein, Tulasi, the sacred plant so dear to Vishnu, cursed Vishnu to become a stone during one act of their eternal lila. Vishnu said, “To fulfill your curse, I will become a stone (Salagrama-sila) and will always live on the banks of the Ghandaki River. The millions of Vajrakita worms that live at that place will adorn those stones with the signs of my chakra by carving them with their sharp teeth”.

      After the sightseeing tour of Muktinath Temple descend down to the Ranipauwa (Main Bazaar of Muktinath).

      Rest of the day is free to relax or explore around the town.

    7. Day 7 Ride Muktinath to Gheling via Kagbeni (3520/45kms/3hrs)

      After leisurely breakfast ride back down to Kagbeni (2800 m) which is the gateway to Upper Mustang. (Note: The Kaligandaki Valley becomes increasingly windy during the day as the winds blows south to north and makes it difficult for travelers.

      Kagbeni at an altitude of 2840m is a fascinating medieval village with closely packed mud brick houses, dark alleys and imposing chortens lies along the Around Annapurna Trekking route and is the gateway to Upper Mustang. The village stands in a little green oasis dominated by its red monastery. Though the village has a very medieval look, it can provide all the modern amenities that a traveler requires. This is the only village after Jomsom where there is an internet facility for communication with the outside world. This village also boasts of a Monastery. The monks here are of the yellow hat or the Gelukpa Sect and have only recently opened their monastery to visitors with a legitimate entrance fee of Rs 100, which they collect for the maintenance of their school.

      After completing the permits work we continue our ride to Geling. As we pass Kagbeni village we will be riding on the bank of Kali Gandaki River. Kali Meals (Black) and the water of the river are black in color. As we ride on we will come to the mall village settlement knows as Tangbe, which has couple of house and tea house for the trekkers and travelers. As we pass through the Tangbe village, after 20 to 25 minutes ride we will come to another human settlement known as Chele.

      At Chele there is a Steel foot bridge. This bridge is quite small one and it is normally used by the villagers and the trekkers. Upon arrival at the bridge we will have two options either ride on the bridge and cross the river or ride the bike under the bridge through the running river to cross the river. In Chele we will be able to see the river tunnels which also lead us to Gheling. After

      crossing the river ride till Samar.

      The road is up the east bank of the Kali Gandaki River that climbs over many ridges as it heads north. Depending upon the weather we will use a combination of high trails and the river bank routes. We use the combination of these trails as also because of the construction of the road to upper Mustang which is still in progress.

      From here during our ride we can see the Gompa Kang and some caves on the west bank of the river. Unlike most Gompas in Upper Mustang, Gompa Kang is of the Nyingmapa sect. Alongside the East bank is the village of Tangbe at an elevation of 2930 m. Here are the trios of black, white and red chortens that typify Upper Mustang. The Nilgiri peak which dominates the southern

      skyline at Kagbeni continues to loom massively at the foot of the valley with its white washed houses, fields of barley, buckwheat, and wheat and apple orchards. The Chhuksang village is reached.

      Upon arrival at Samar we rest for a while and take lunch.

      After lunch continue our ride to Geling.

      Upon arrival at Gheling check in to the lodge and rest of the evening is free to relax and explore around the village.

    8. Day 8 Ride Gheling to Lo-Manthang (3700m/35kms/3hrs)

      After breakfast met by the rest of the team and continue the ride to Lo-Manthang. After crossing Geling we continue our ride to Ghami.

      After crossing Ghami we ride to Lo- Manthang. As soon as we leave Ghami we have to take right to get to Tsarang.

      Upon arrival at Tsarang continue the adventure ride to Lo-Manthang via Big Chorten and Lo Dry La River.

      Lo-Manthang is a medieval walled city on the Tibetan Plateau north of the main Himalayas range. Lo-Manthang served as

      the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Mustang, which survives as the Kingdom of Lo or “Upper Mustang”. Lo Manthang was founded in 1380 by Ame Pal, who oversaw construction of the city wall and many of the still-standing structures in the early 15th century. The monarchy officially ceased to exist on October 7, 2008 by Nepali Government order. The last king (raja or

      gyelpo) is JigmeDorjePalbarBista (born c. 1933), in the direct line of the historic monarchy dating back 25 generations to 1380. The population includes ethnic Lhobas.

      Upon arrival at Lo-Manthang check in to the lodge and rest of the evening is free to relax and explore around the kingdom of Lo-Manthang.

      Overnight in Lo-Manthang

    9. Day 9 Ride Lo-Manthang to Kora La (4660m) (approx. 45 km)

      After breakfast; met by the rest of the team to ride approx. 45 km towards Kora La, which is the border between Nepal and Tibet.

      Kora La is a mountain pass between Tibet and Upper Mustang. It is only 4,660 metres (15,290 ft.)

      in elevation; it has been considered the lowest drivable path between Tibetan Plateau and Indian subcontinent. It is currently being planned as vehicle border crossing between China and Nepal.

      Kora La is situated on the drainage divide between the Yarlung Tsangpo and Ganges river basins. At 4,660 m (15,290 ft.), it is the lowest pass across the Himalayan mountain range. As such, it forms the key col for K2 on the ridgeline connecting it to Mount Everest. The Kali Gandaki River has its source near the southern side of the pass.

      Kora La is one of the oldest routes between the two regions. It was historically used for salt trade between Tibet and Nepalese

      kingdoms. Up until 2008 Upper Mustang was the Kingdom of Lo, an ethnic Tibetan kingdom that was a suzerainty of Kingdom of Nepal.

      The suzerainty allowed for a certain level of independence in local governance from the Nepalese central government.

      During the late 1950s and 60s, the Tibetan guerrilla group Chushi Gangdruk operated out of Upper Mustang with the intention of raiding PLA positions in Tibet. This led to a border incident that caused the killing of a Nepalese officer who was mistaken as a Tibetan rebel.

      People’s Republic of China and Kingdom of Nepal officially signed border agreement in 1961. The border was set slightly north of the traditional boundary marker. The traditional location of Kora La is marked by a stupa lies a bit south of the demarcated border between China and Nepal.

      In December 1999, the 17th claimant Karmapa fled Tibet through this area. In response; China built a border fence immediately after. There is a PLA border outpost a few miles on Chinese side; it is the western most border outpost in Tibet Military District. The outpost was renovated in 2009 to have a modern facility.

      The border has been closed since the 1960s. However, there is a semiannual cross-border trade fair during which the border is open to local traders. In 2012, Nepal and China agreed to open 6 more official border crossings, Kora La being one of them.

      Later, retrace the tracks back to Lo-Manthang. Rest of the day is free to explore around town.

    10. Day 10 Ride around Lo-Manthang

      The major Temples inside the walls are Champa Lakhang (God House) which houses the massive 45 ft. statue of Maitreva, the future Buddha, The red Thugchen Gompa with several large images of Sakyamuni, Avalokitesvara and Maitreya, and the Chyodi Gompa of the Sakya sect which has several monks in residence and is the site of the annual Mani Rimdu festival in many which is referred as ‘tegi’ in Lomanthang. They are all supposed to have been built in 1420. Despite the apparent squalor of Lo Manthang, the city is prosperous and maintains a strong sense of community. Though the people call themselves Lobas- people from Lo, they are very much Tibetan and practice a sophisticated culture and economy.

      The King’s palace is an imposing 4 – storied building in the center of the city. It is the home of the present king – Jigme Parbal Bista. The Honorary title “Bist – a high caste title in Nepali” was conferred by the King of Nepal. Though his duties are

      largely ceremonial, he is respected by the people and consulted about many issues by villagers throughout Lo.

      Ride from Lo-Manthang to neighboring village for the sightseeing tour. However, everyone is required to mount and dismount outside the city gates as only the King may ride a horse within the city walls.

      After a leisurely breakfast, we get ready for the days adventure. Today we are going to visit one of the most interesting sites of the pre human settlement in this unexplored valley. The most interesting thing will be we will be riding on a bike back to this beautiful site of Chhoser village.

      Since it is located near this village of Chhoser and so, famously known as the Caves of Chhoser.

      Beside these interesting caves it is also famous for the magnificent landscape and Nymphu monastery built on the cliffs. On our way back we can also visit the Namgyal village and monastery.

      The journey begins from the main walled city of Lo-Manthang and descends at the northeast end of the village to the river and then climbs to the other side of the valley. As you leave the walled city behind the landscape and vista slowly changes and become more beautiful and open in the aired high altitude desert. The journey on the motorcycle back will take you through the sparsely scattered settlement and agricultural farm lands and the never ending horizons of the rolling hills of the southern Tibetan plateau.

      As you approach the Chhoser village, you could see numerous caves in the front of the cliff that once use to be the home of the pre historic Loba’s and the monks. Cross the river and drive a little further towards the village where the horse / horseman will come to a stop. From here it’s time to walk towards the Cave, make sure you carry some money with you as they charge roughly about two hundred fifty Nepalese rupees. The Cave keeper, usually a monk, will come with the keys to assist the guest who have come to visit the caves. After the caves, we then visit the monastery nearby.

      After the sightseeing tour, we ride back to the city of Lo, on the way back we can also drive to the Namgyal village and monastery for the sightseeing and then finally back to the lodge form hot lunch.

      Rest of the day at leisure or free to explore the walled village.

    11. Day 11 Ride to Kagbeni (2840 m) (approx. 75 Km)

      After breakfast we ride back track to Kagbeni following the same trail.

      Lunch at convenient place.

      Kagbeni at an altitude of 2840 meters is a famous village of Baarah Gaun (Lit: twelve villages) region in Mustang district that also lies in popular Annapurna Circuit Trek route and a gateway to Upper Mustang. It is a fascinating medieval village with closely packed mud brick houses, dark alleys and imposing chortens. The village stands in a little green oasis dominated by its red monastery. Though the village has a very medieval looks but has all the modern amenities that a travelers require. This is the only village after Jomsom where there is an internet facility for communication with the outside world. This village also boasts of a Monastery. The monks here are of the yellow hat or the Gelup Sect and are only recently opened to the visitors with a legitimate entrance fee of Rs 100, which they collect for the maintenance of school.

      Upon arrival at Kagbeni, check in to “The Red House” a privately owned house but now converted recently into a hotel, is steeped in history. It has its private 350-year-old Tibetan-style chapel “Tharwa Choling Nunnery” and Buddhist murals in the dining room along with a huge clay idol of Maitreya, the second largest in Mustang. There is also a 5 ft. statue of Buddha enigmatic dotting the center and said to be the largest in the region. It is believed that your trip will be blessed and

      complete if you visit this holy place.

    12. Day 12 Ride to Tatopani (approx. 61 Km)

      After late breakfast visit the Kagbeni village and later continue ride to Jomsom. Jomsom is approximately 11 kilometers from Kagbeni. Upon arrival at Jomsom we complete the paper works and later continue further 25 kilometers, about 1 ½ hour slow ride to Kalopani via Marpha Village.

      Marpha is at an elevation of 2670 meters. Marpha is famous for its apple orchards and apple products. This large Thakali village exhibits the typical Thak Khola architecture of flat roofs and narrow paved alleys and passageways. It also has a monastery. Marpha is a pretty stone lined village which has survived the transition to the current time, by catering to trekkers and tourists.

      Although it has an original Safe Water Drinking station, it now also sports numerous guest houses and small hotels. Dominating the village is the Nyingma monastery from which there are good views of the village and the Gandaki River valley. Above the monastery is a chorten painted onto the cliff face and a number of small stone chortens on the ledges below. Legend says that the villagers became afflicted with leprosy and all attempts to control it had failed. A local monk, originally from Tukuche, south of Marpha, advised the villagers to build the chorten and hold religious rituals at the site. Since that time the leprosy stopped and Marpha flourished once more

      After the sightseeing tours of Marpha take lunch at nearby restaurant or lodge.

      After lunch continue ride for another 25 Kilometer to Tatopani.Upon arrival at Tatopani check in to the Annapurna guest house

    13. Day 13 Ride Tatopani to Pokhara (approx. 105 Kilometers).

      It is a pleasant relief to be able to tackle the roughest section of the journey in the early morning.

      Descend to Beni (25 kilometers). After a quick stop for a quick, set out following the trail along the river and the after about an hour meet the main highway at Maldhunga and then continue of the metalled road to Pokhara which is reached in about 2 ½ hours.

    14. Day 14 Ride from Pokhara to Nuwakot (1000m/195kms/5hrs)

      After breakfast met by the road captain at the hotel lobby and later ride 196Kms to Nuwakot. This day’s ride is mostly on the Pokhara/Kathmandu highway and we ride 90Kms to Mugling. From Mugling head north towards Kathmandu and arrive at Galchi (55Kms), a nondescript roadside village located at the cross section and the road on the left follows the Trishuli River into the

      Trishuli Bazaar. The route from here is a fine newly built pitched track. The red clay hillside makes a sharp contrast with the blue of the Trishuli River. There is an increase in traffic of motorcycle riders during holidays as many revelers are seen picnicking along the river banks.

      The beauty of the area is not easily forgotten. The rolling hills, the Trishuli River, ethnic villages, suspension bridges all make it a very interesting ride. A little after Bahun Besi, the small village of Kosh kade is located on the other side of the suspension bridge which is the venue for annual Bullfighting festival that takes place during Maghe Sakranti festival in January.

      In an about 45mins of scenic ride arrive at the suspension bridge and enter a busy and populated settlement of Devi Ghat. Then continue for another kilometer to meet up with the main road from Trishuli Bazaar. From here, the road is black topped and riding along a path lined with pine trees for another 10 kilometers brings us to the famous Trishuli Bazaar.

      The name, Nuwakot, is made up of two words ‘nawa’ and ‘kort’. Nawa means nine in Nepali and ‘kort’ means sacred religious site at the top of hill. The district accordingly has 9 nine hills over which various deities are said to dwell thus overseeing and protecting Nuwakot. This has led Nuwakot often being called “City of nine hills”. The place has carried a long history of the entire

      country Nepal.

    15. Day 15 Ride Nuwakot to Kathmandu (1370m/72kms/3hrs)

      A.M.: Sightseeing tour of Nuwakot Durbar (Palace) and surrounding.

      The palace is at the top of a hill, 7 kilometers away from headquarter of Nuwakot district. The hills are full of huge jungle. Nuwakot Durbar is also known as “Saat Talle Durbar” means seven storied palace. Nuwakot Durbar is one of the historic with ancient wood carving and sculptures that aged back to seventeenth century were fabulous piece of artifact. Beside Nuwakot durbar there was Rani Mahal where dancers used to dance for the kings. As the palace has been converted to museum, it is open for all to see that past life of the royals. Each floor of the palace has got its own distinctive character. Nuwakot district itself has got very unique and rare structure. This district is moon shaped in the map of Nepal. The Trishuli River will make you feel calm and relaxed with its fresh air and melodious flow. The river also hides the most valuable metallic mineral, the river roars at night which can be heard from the very distance. It gives such a heavenly pleasure that anyone can have sound sleep and lost in the dreams of mysterious Nuwakot District.

      After a quick breakfast, we head out towards Kathmandu. The route from here is on a dirt track.

      The red clay makes a sharp contrast with the blue of the Trishuli River. The road, at places, is full of pot holes caused by the big trucks and busses that ply this route and so riding is a bit difficult. A dust mask is essential by the constant traffic. There is an increase in traffic of motorcycle riders during holidays as many revelers are seen picnicking along the river banks.

      The beauty of the area is not easily forgotten. The rolling hills, the Trishuli River, ethnic villages, suspension bridges all make it a very interesting ride.       After about 1 ½ hours of dirt track, the end of this stretch of road is a steep, uneven descent till the suspension bridge. Enter a

      busy and populated settlement of Devi Ghat and then set out for another kilometer to meet up with the main road from Trishuli Bazaar. From here, the road is black topped and riding along a path lined with pine trees for another 10 kilometers brings us to the famous Trishuli Bazaar and a great place for a much deserved lunch break.

      After lunch, the 72 kilometer ride to Kathmandu is an interesting one. Firstly, we retrace our ride for about 10 minutes through the hustle and bustle of the Trishuli Bazaar and then take the road to Kakani. Firstly, it is a steep winding descent but the scenery is fantastic. Deep forested areas, with clear flowing streams and waterfalls provide visitors of what Nepal is all about. The Langtang

      himal from “TADI” in the far distance is a beauty to behold. The riders wind their way up the narrow forested mountain road enjoying the view of the mountains, the colorful landscape and the small roadside settlements where time seems to stand still.

      As one comes to the top of the ridge at Rani Pauwa, there are signs that points to the trout farms which have been a blessing in disguise for the economy of the region. The cool mountain air, the cold waters of fast flowing mountain streams has been ideal for trout farming and people all the way from Kathmandu come here on weekends to enjoy this delicacy. The farms here supply much of the requirements of the restaurants and hotels of the Kathmandu City.

      Deep friend trout with “Piro Golbheda ko Achar” (hot and spicy tomato pickle) is just what the doctor recommends and is accompanied by a salad of fresh radish and carrots, another favorite from this region.

      The route from Rani Pauwa slowly descends via Kakani to Balaju. The sunset over Mt. Langtang,Ganesh Himal, Dorji Lakpa etc. from Kakani is magnificent. Enroute, there are steep bends and descents and so the riders need to be extra careful with the oncoming traffic from Kathmandu. The army check post below Nagarjung checks everyone for any illegal plants or animals. As one descends into the Kathmandu valley, the view of the Kathmandu City, a cluster of dense concrete jungle greets us and we mill into the traffic at Gongabu to slowly negotiate our way towards out hotel.

    16. Day 16 Free Day in Kathmandu / Morning Mountain Flight (Optional)

      Today is a free day to relax or explore around the town.

      Optional Activity

      Early in the morning met by the guide or the representative from Adrenaline Travel and board the waiting vehicle and drive to the domestic airport of Kathmandu for the Mountain Flight.

      The one hour flight takes you within camera range of some of the highest peaks in the world, and cruising this close to the aweinspiring massifs of rock and ice, is an out of this earth experience. The aircraft takes off and peaks come into view. The first peak that appears on your horizon is the majestic Gosaithan, standing 8,013 m tall. To its right, appears Dorje Lhakp (6,966m), looking like a massive figure of 8, lying prone and covered is snow. To its right is Phurbi Chyachy, which looms over the Kathmandu Valley.

      Next on your vision is Choba Bhamare, rather small in this company at 5,933m, but singularly stubborn as it remains unconquered to this day. Then comes Gauri Shanker (7,134m), standing out sharp and conspicuous – Hindus believe that Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati protect this mountain.

      As the flight moves toward the Eastern Himalayas, a succession of majestic mountains follows.

      Melungtse, with a plateau-like top stands at 7,023 m; Chugimago is at 6,297 m, and still remains to be scaled. At 6, 956 m, Mt. Numbur resembles a breast and is believed to the maternal source in the sky providing pure milk to the Sherpas of Solokhumbu. Then, Karyolung, a gleaming – white mountain at 6,511 m, and Cho-Oyu, the sixth highest in the world at 8,021 m.

      The Last and most exciting stretch of the journey take you close to the 7,952m -tall Gyanchungkang, which is considered an extremely tough climb. To its right is Pumori at 7,161m, Nuptse at 7,855m and whole wall of Lhotse Sar (8393 m) and Lhotse at 8501m. Finally, there is Mt. Everest itself (8,848m), called Sagarmatha by the Nepalis and Chomolungma by Tibetans. It is

      an altogether different feeling as one comes face to face with the world’s tallest and most enigmatic of mountains.

    The name ‘Royal’ came from the company Royal Small Arms with the trademark ‘Made like a Gun’ and ‘Enfield’ is the name of a place in UK. The most famous motorcycle of Royal Enfield was launched in 1931 with a four valve, single-cylinder motorcycle and was christened ‘Bullet’ in 1932.

    The sale of the ‘Bullet” is approximately 40,000 units per year and is made in Chennai, India, and exported throughout the world.

    The popularity of this band is evident by the number of Royal Enfielder’s Clubs worldwide From USA, UK to India and Nepal, there are more than 1,000 active members across all clubs for Royal Enfield lovers.

    The Royal Enfield ‘Bullets’ is still manufactured in India with change in the original 1949-55 design. Despite its primitive looks and very basic mechanical construction, the charm of this bike lies in its low-tech gas-guzzling four-stroke engine. Tune it on, and the air around you reverberates with a low frequency rhythmic rumble. This is the classic heavy-bike-sound of the fifties and sixties, no longer found in today’s hi-tech machines. At a gross dry-weight of 165

    kilograms (or more) with engines available either in the 350 cc., or the 500 cc. mold, the Enfield is the only locally manufactured touring bike readily available in South Asia.

    Though many other brands boast of equal popularity, The Royal Enfield has a certain segment of customers who have extreme ardour for this particular bike. With the noise it makes and the way it looks, The Royal Enfield Motorcycle can certainly be vouched for as the “kings of the roads”. It is different and has a class of its own; making it stand out everywhere it goes.

    The Himalayan (latest model) is made by Royal Enfield, and launched in 2016 in the Metro Cities of India. The 411 cc engine produces 24.5 BHP (18.02 KW) @ 6500 RPM and 32 Nm of torque @ 4000 – 4500 RPM. The Himalayan is a versatile motorcycle thumper with a muffled thump. This is to comply with noise regulations. Aftermarket exhaust systems are used for the louder thump, for those who care for it. While the bike gets a long stroke 411 cc four stroke engine, just like other

    Royal Enfields, it is not built for the ‘thump’ that older Enfields have, although it is claimed by many to be more efficient. The engine is not primarily designed for providing the ‘thump’, but to perform and do its job on the road and off it.
